I first saw this Sam Worthington fellow in Terminator Salvation. I developed a crush on him! I was surprised that this relative newcomer landed a role in what I think is one of the most stunning and extraordinary films of ALL TIME. I just saw James Cameron's AVATAR and was in awe. The most beautiful cinematic world. You just want to be a part of it. You HAVE to see this movie. In IMAX even more! I am almost speechless to describe it to you, but I don;t want to ruin any pieces of the plot, but in addition to it's artistic dynamite the story really makes you think hard again about how we interact with our world and the way humanity has become so divided from this earth from which we are so tied, made of the same things, chemical compounds and such but proceed to destroy.

Busy Weekend!!!

Starting things off with a GRAND holiday party at the Whiskey Nightclub TONIGHT! It will be the last Friday party for two weeks because of New Years Day and Christmas Day (both land on Fridays). Tattoo = True Love...sometimes...

I don't think I would EVER get a tattoo of a boyfriend or husband on my body. Not thier name or image. I think it's the worst idea but people keep on doing it. The latest is Carey Hart. Pink is back with her man and he got an amazing portrait of Pink on his leg. It's pretty damn amazing! If they ever break up I'm sure he'll still be proud of the ink!

Jersey Shore

Guidos. Guidettes. I thought those were derogatory comments about Italians. But the Italian-American people on this MTV reality show "Jersey Shore" actually refer to themselves as that. As I was hunkered down waiting out Blizzard '09, my sister tells me to check my email for a link to a show that she is hooked on. She told me it made her laugh her head off. So I took a look, now I'm hooked as well. DAMN HER!! It is hilarious because these people are ridiculous. Act ridiculous. But still think it's normal. I think MTV screens potential reality show characters to see how messed up they are and then force a bunch of fame seeking freaks to live together. I am almost ashamed that I wanna see more. It's so dis-functional, you can't look away. Hair Gel, Fake tans(Skin Cancer just waiting to happen), Steroid use, Rampant casual sex, extreme binge drinking, booze fueled fights and getting carted off in hand-cuffs. Yup...2 episodes in and I'm not Catholic but feel I should confess the sin of wanting more. My big sister is a bad influence. As a side note, allow me to quote on of the "stars" of the show. You see they all have to work at this T-shirt shop if they are to remain in the house. This one particular girl isn't too stoked on the idea because, "It's beneath me, like, I mean, I'm a bartender. Like...I do great things" hee hee.

Judging from my excitement you think I would have been dressed as a vulcan waiting in line for the midnight screening of Star Trek. I even posted pics of the new Enterprise Ship. As a self described Trekkie I am ashamed of the fact that I have STILL not seen the movie. My sister even saw it in theatre. I knew that it was on it's way to DVD, so I promised to rent it as soon as it hit the shelf. Which I didn't...yet. My boy rented it and says it isn't due back until sunday, so I'm gonna swing by after work and grab it. I WILL watch it tonight and hope once again to be restored to my true trekkie status. I am so sorry to my fellow Trekkies for not representin'!

Perfectly Good Money

I had a big box of pennies and such laying around my house, it was starting to overflow. I was never in the mood to sort thru it all even though I Could use the cash and I didn't think my bank would do it for me. Thank goodness I stumbled upon a handly little machine at The Canadian Tire on Richmond Road heading up to Westhills. You dump ALL your change into it, Its sorts and counts it all, spits out a reciept. You take it to the cashier and you get your money..in mostley paper form. The machine does charge about a 10% service fee, so if you dont mind parting with that to get that change out of your sight, its worth it!

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I am hooked on this book "Outlander". My mom and sister were raving about these books for years so on a recent trip up to Edmonton I took my mom's old tattered copy back up here to Calgary. Now that i am about 1/4 thru I just never want to put it down!! The hours pass by and I realize I have to get ready to go to work tonight, plus get dressed for the Whiskey and I have like 20 minutes! I was so engrossed in the book. It kept me up till 5 am last night! It's crazy, but I love it. You know a good book when... So if you are looking for a new book to read I suggest it to you!

Mastermind kinda sucks..

I never ran around the office telling everyone he had swine flu when mastermind stayed home sick. But that's what he has been doing to me...and everyone is looking at me like I have the plauge. Whatever... I hope I DID have swine flu. Now that I'm better, I may just have my immunity and can go on with my life while the rest of the world continues to feed on the fear. :)

I've got something.....(Nov 17)

Symptoms are as follows. Body Aches, Headache, Sore Throat and Fatigue. I just slept for 18 hours. Got up to get some food and fluids in me and I'm about ready to go back to bed. I'm pretty sure I have the Flu. It could have been worse I think. I woke up Sunday morning with a super sore throat. I got out the sea salts and gargled with it and rinsed out my nose as well, which was uncomfortable. I used a cotton swab dipped in hydrogen peroxide in my ears. Vitamin C, E and D and rest. Repeat. Blogging has taken the rest of the energy I had. I hope i wake up 100% better tomorrow. Time for vitamins and back to bed. Any magical cure I haven't tried? Motivation! I need Motivation

Please tell me how to motivate myself to work out. I just can't seem to get back into the swing of things and in the meantime chubby is creeping up my thighs. This must stop, but I have kinda stopped caring. Is it because of winter? Am I depressed? Any suggestions? I choose to work out outside. Going to a gym is not my style. A power walk or jog is right outside my door. Its so easy to throw bundle up and get moving. but I still don't. Goodness..lend me a hand.

Remembrance Day

I have this idea in my mind that everyone is required to be very sad and quiet on remembrance day. It's a holiday for some people. Not Me. I was going to say check out Sunshine Village because they open Nov.11th. They have 5 chairs running and 11 runs open so it'll be a good time. But I start feeling like we are not allowed to have a good time. It's all very confusing for me. Even the night before I was suggesting places to party... and then I felt bad about it. Like I should NOT be encouraging people to be hungover tomorrow. Altho people with a hangover may appreciate the silence. Oh well. People will do with the Holiday what they choose! I'm over analyzing it.

New Car New Car!!!

I work the kind of job where you NEED a car. You have to be in all sorts of places all over the city in addition to my time spent in the studio. You have to have a reliable vehicle. Being the youngest of 3 kids I seem to inherit my cars and all the problems that go along with used vehicles. I was in the shop at least once a month for the past 5 months. All these unplanned expenses were messing with my finances. I just wanted peace of mind of mind so i began car hunting. After doing my research I chose my top 3. Honda Civic, Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla. After test drives and price quotes I went with the reliable Toyota Corolla XRS. Its a speedy lil ride with a sport package and the GM, Farid and sales associate Colin Chan at Country Hills Toyota really made the experience enjoyable and easy. I was really quite scared being a single girl going into a dealership...I thought I would look like a sitting duck to these folks but I took my time and found the right vehicle, price and payment plan that works for me! I can't wait to get my car on Thursday. Its my FIRST EVER new car. I know I have a car payment now, but I think the security is worth it.

Construction Nov 6

I think we have all experienced the inconvenience of construction. Usually when we are stuck in traffic downtown and the construction companies have taken up a couple lanes on either side. it's funny how the city allows this to happen. If i were in charge I would only allow on project in the same are to disrupt traffic at one time. These guys are enjoying a free for all. It's nice that the city is getting bigger, but boy are there some growing pains in the butt! Do you live in an area with alot of new development? Perhaps alot of old houses coming down and new ones going up? There is an infill being built behind my house and I am suffering from sleep deprivation! They start at 7 am, and for a girl that works till midnight you can imagine how this is affecting me. Banging and hammering and drilling and big cement trucks from the dawn till i go into work every day. Just writing this I wanna have a breakdown and start screaming at them to shuuuuuuuuuut uuuuuuuuuup! hahaha! Oh dear, this massive new house seems to be going up very fast so hopefully I will not have to put up with it much longer!

Twilight....

Everybody is so stoked for the new movie in the Twilight Saga. The Series of books have sold billions. My sister is one of the hooked. I just never really jumped on the bandwagon. I tried reading the books and couldn't finish. It didn't do it for me. I figured the movie would be equally dissapointing so I didnt bother seeing it even though my sister begged me to go with her. You may have read in an earluier blog that I have free movie channels for a while. It was on the otehr night and I figured it wouldn't hurt to watch it. Even though it was free I still didnt find it entertaining. Maybe because the whole plot has been revealed already. I love Vampire everything, except this movie. I feel so alone...does anyone else not care about Twilight?

Flu Shot/H1N1 (Oct 27)

I'm not getting it. Not the flu shot, not the H1N1 shot. I got the flu shot once. Last year. I have to mention at the time I was very stressed out and unhappy, and my immune system may have been affected, but after I got the flu shot, I got Mono. I had Mono when I was 15. I shared a slurpee with a friend who had it and caught it from her. I never had it very bad. I had a massive swollen gland at the back of my neck (when I went to see my doctor I told him that I had cancer, i thought it was a tumor). I must admit it didn't effect me much.I kept going to school even though my doctor said I could stay home for 3 weeks. People think you can't get Mono again. But it's from the same family of viruses as chicken pox (which can come back as shingles) and cold sores, or the herpes virus (which come back again and again). This time around I was wiped out. For a month straight after getting that flu shot all I did was eat, sleep and work and sleep some more. This year I'm skipping it. It's kinda crazy how people are lining up for this shot even though stats say 41% of canadians say they will not get the shot. People are frustrated with waiting lines. Imagine how crazy it would be if everyone was rolling up their sleeves for this shot. I think it's a big scare tactic. Another way to instill fear as a means to control society. But that is another blog all together. One that may be a little too deep for this website. :)

Peace of mind (Oct 26)

I don't know if I told you that my car has been broken into several times. It is such a violation. It happened in my parkade, and it is the worst feeling coming down to your vehicle to see the window smashed out and your vehicle ransacked. So I finally saved up enough money for a car alarm and figured I would get a starter as well. I went to Mr. Detail and I have never been treated so well! Not only did they do the install, Sammy sat down with me and taught me how to use the starter and gave me a number to call if I have any problems. I love the level of personal service. I would even pay more to have it, but the prices at Mr. Detail are great. Very affordable! I also had my car detailed and I feel like I'm driving a BRAND new car! In addition to the peace of mind of the car alarm the thought of being able to start my car when it's -30 outside without going outside is awesome!

oh yeah!! I'm a 34D baby!

I swear I never understand Bra sizes. It really varies from style to style and it's just that variation that makes Bra shopping so damn frustrating. I can go into La Senza and try on stacks of bras and never find one that fits. When I do find one that fits I wear it every day until it falls apart! I just don't want to go through that process. I have been to stores that "claim" to be bra fitting specialists but in the end, it's their best guess because I am a tough fit. So I was strolling through North Hill Mall (14th st & 16th ave) doing some halloween shopping and I pass by a store called "Crimson Lingerie - Bra Fitting Specialists". I was in dire need of a new bra so I decided to give them a shot and BOY was I glad. One of the girls, named Lindell, really took time to figure out my body type and selected some great styles. She even used this technique where she brings in a white t-shirt that you put on to make sure the Bra creates smooth lines, no bulging or gaps. I found an amazing Bra, (by Jezebel) a 34D, which I would never have guessed. Great fit and it was about $60. Thats about 1/2 the price of my last good bra. So I asked her to order that same bra in different colors. Im so happy to be strutting around in a bra that really holds my ladies well! All my old ill fitting ones are going to Bra's 4 a Cause!

I'm always trying to keep watch on my figure. I do it for fashion sake. If I get too fat I might not be bale to fit into all my fun clothes. THAT would be a tragedy! I got a call from a chatty young lady the other day telling me about a website called FitDay.com. It is a FREE service that allows you to create an account and input the food you eat each day and it will calculate the calories. You can input the activities and excercise and it will figure out how many calories you burn. It figures out how much fat, carbs and protein you are getting in your diet and soooo much more! It's a great way to keep you food intake top of mind and maybe reach your weightloss goals. Im trying to lose 10 pounds. But I love cheese. This could be a problem. :)

Movie Chat

So I got Free Movie channels! As a result of a botched SHAW service call, I got free movies channels for who knows how long.I am enjoying it. It gives me a reason to stay at home and behave myself. Late last night I started watching a movie called "The Sasquatch Gang". It's from the same people that made Napoleon Dynamite. It stars Justin Long (the guy from the PC vs Mac commercials). I laughed my ass off! Try to rent it if you can and let me know what you thought of it! I also started to see these trailers for "The Fourth Kind" a movie based on true events. It looks super creepy. It opens on Nov 6th and I'm pretty sure I will have to have a sleepover after watching it. Someone to spend the night so I don't freak myself out alone in my house!!

With this wild weather I decided to check in with the farmers almanac to see what this winter could have in store. Not good news. WInterize your car as well as yourselves! The summer is looking pretty dismal to. Here is what it had to say: Annual Weather Summary: November 2009 to October 2010 Winter temperatures will be 4 to 5 degrees C colder than normal, on average, with the coldest periods in mid- to late November, much of December, early and late January, and early and mid-February. Precipitation will be below normal in the east and above normal in the west. Snowfall will be above normal, especially in Alberta, with the heaviest snowfalls in mid-December, late January, early to mid-February, and early March. April and May will be cooler than normal, with most of the area receiving above-normal precipitation and snowfall. Summer will be cooler and rainier than normal in southern Alberta, cooler and drier than normal in Saskatchewan, and drier than normal, with near-normal temperatures, in Manitoba. Nice..but not nice...

My sister and I carpooled to and from my home town of Edmonton this weekend and we got to talking about those chain e-mails we all get from time to time. Full of sweet words, blessings and life lessons. Poems and affirmations. And Love. Until you get to the end and it says "if you don't forward this to 10 friends within 10 minutes your life will be filled with pan and anguish". Or something along those lines. Really??? All these beautiful sentiments mean nothing if I don't forward this email. I think it's a horrible way to end it. I don't even think I have 10 friends. REAL friends. And why would I pass on a hex disguised as well wishes on to my real friends? The next time I get one of these emails. I may just forward it to a buddy, and erase the last part. You know the one that says if you don't send it to everyone in your address book your kids will be born with three eyeballs or something.

Where art thou 24hr Wal Mart

I'll tell u where it is....gone! For some reason after like 2 years they decided to take away this sweet deal and I'm not the only one that is upset. The consensus is that it wasn't that big a deal for them to stay open. There are people there all night stocking shelves anyway. Maybe one checkout was open. The last time I went there it was actually busy. I made a call and the girl over there wasn't much help, she couldn't tell me why they had decided to close at midnight. I told her I would start a petition. I wonder how many signatures I would get? I like a 24hr world. This is the second blow in the convenience department. I live in Bankview and ALL of a sudden they close down the 7-11 that was on my block. So...Shoppers Drug Mart it is. My last 24 hour convenience. *sigh*

Where art Thou 24hr Wal Mart?

I know i blogged about this in the past! I was super stoked about the Wal-Marts decision to go 24hrs. For me, It can be a lifesaver. Sometimes I dont have much time in the day and run low on supplies. Having that Wal-Mart open late was super convenient! I also lkiked the fact that it wasnt THAT busy and crazy, it was a very peaceful shopping experience. last night I went to the 24hr Wal Mart in Westbrook and it was CLOSED! what the heck??? I was so sad, I will be calling them during my show today to find out why and have the info for you in case you are as outraged as me!!

Pay for Air???

I have this one tire on my car that I think has a slow leak. It gets kinda flat now and than but I haven't fixed it 'cause I plan to winter tires soon. So every now and then I have to fill it up. So as I was driving around on saturday I came across a Petro Canada and decided to pump up my tire when I noticed they were charging a loonie to use their air hose. What in damnation is that all about? Charging for air? "Hell no" I say. Talk about cheap. So I kept on driving in search of another gas station and I run into another Petro Canada and I'm thinking "maybe it was just that one that was charging for Air". Nope this gas station also wanted a dollar to use their air hose. When I told my friend about it she was just as mortified. Since when do you get charged for air? I don't buy your gas and I sure will not pay for your air. The FasGas across the street let me have it for free. I'm normally a Husky/Mohawk girl.

The Informant! and More (sept 28th)

Went to the movies. Saw Matt Damon in The Informant! I thought it would be funny. It wasn't really. Wouldn't recommend it. How bout you, any good movies you've seen as of late? When I got home I hopped on Rotten Tomatoes and was watching some trailers for upcoming flicks and ran across one called "Antichrist" that stars Willem Dafoe. It won a whole bunch of awards at film festivals all over the world. It isn't in theatres yet, so without giving to many details. I got my hands on a copy of the flick. It's really weird and Rated NC-17. It's artsy, strange and has some very disturbing undertones. The writer has been accused of having a hatred towards women in general and after thinking about the movie I'm pretty sure the message he is trying to send is that Woman is Antichrist. Really harsh message. Looking to check out some more (perhaps crazy, artsy) movies. The Calgary International Film Fest is on now until Oct 4th. Enjoy!

Luna Blue/Blue Moon on 14st SW Amazing Boots and Shoes

I'm looking for boots. I know it's like 30 degrees out, but the leaves have changed and the snow will come. I need boots. Specifically flat leather boots that come over the knee. My problem is i have big feet. I'm a size 10-11 women's and I also have wide feet. I have been cursed. For some reason the industry believes I do not deserve to have cute shoes. When it comes to boots, my calves get in the way, i can't zip them up, or pull them up to save my life. I usually have to get them stretched. But I manage. First I would just endure the pain of ill fitting shoes but I am not wasting any more of my hard earned money on shoes that kill my feet. I want to wear them, all day if need be. So I popped into a local shoe store on 14th st SW. Around 25th ave. It's called Luna Blue and they have amazingly cute, unique shoes and you would be surprised that the prices are not outrageous. I asked about the biggest size they carry. She said sometimes an 11 (41 in european which actually means 10 1/2) I spent a quite a while in there and did not end up getting boots but super cute pumps, in purple, all because they knew all about their shoes, how they fit, so as not to waste any of my time. You should check it out. It's 50% off summer stuff right now. My search for boots continues. My next stop is online at a store called Barefoot Tess. For all you tall girls with bigger feet, this IS your one stop shop. Cute shoes in YOUR size.

Invasion of the Ladybugs! (sept 22)

I noticed them on sunday morning. Ladybugs finding the cracks and holes in the screens and coming on inside. I don't mind ladybugs. But I thought it strange this influx of the little red creatures. My best guess is that ladybugs like to hibernate through the winter and were looking for a warm place to wait out the cold weather. My mother used to tell me that ladybugs like to hide in piles of leaves through the winter and it looks like my house is also a choice location. I wikipedia'd Ladybugs and found out that ladybugs like light colored homes with a southwestern exposure(sounds like mine) They come on in to hiberante during the winter and live off thier own body fat. They don't eat fabric and will not cause harm to your home and will leave in the spring. Ladybugs also travel in packs so if one finds it's way into you house, more will follow. If you want them out you can use a shop vac, be sure to pad the inside and then release them outside again. So I was right, and my ladybug friends are free to hang out as long as they like.

Saturday Night Drag (sept 21)

I admit I used my Media Cred to get into the Hottest show in town. I just found out about it through a friend and had to see it. So I pulled some strings to get a seat at Club Paradiso. It's above The Village Cantina in Inglewood and it's the best DRAG show this city has ever seen. It's been going strong for 8 years and is booked in advance for 2 monthes. It's worth a shot giving them a call 403-265-5739 to make a reservation or ask to be notified if anybody cancels! The Star attraction is "Carly" and "The Carly's Angels". She is an amazing MC and will make you laugh until you pee your pants and then she'll make fun of you for it!! If you are not familiar with a "Drag Show", it's guys who dress up as woman and perform musical numbers with plenty of humour and glam! If you are a conservative stick-in-the-mud, don't go! If you can take a dirty joke and enjoy some sexy fun you will have a great time! You can book the whole room for an office party, they even host wedding ceremonies! Every Saturday Night you can catch the show and on Fridays experience the re-birth of the croon! Billy Schmidt will soothe your soul with his velvet voice bringing life back to classic Frank Sinatra. That is EVERY friday and there is NO cover Charge. I have to say THANK YOU to everyone at Club Paradiso, Carly, Renee, Larry, Shay and Mercedes for making it an evening not to be forgotten!

yay!!! weekend! (sept 18)

So I think I pretended it was the weekend last night. Oh baby, I got home at 6am after dancing the night away. Repeat that TONIGHT, just mulling over what I should wear to the Whiskey Nightclub Tonight. Fuzzy and I will be hosting the Fresh Vibe Friday Party. All the music will be broadcast LIVE from the club starting at 10pm! And don't forget MORE commercial Free music tomorrow (saturday) starting at 9pm with my Saturday Night Party Mix. We also have the Portobello West Fashion and Art Market at the Big 4. I bought the most amazing pendent there last time, if you are a fashionista it's a great place for unique goodies! ALSO the Calgary Home and Interior Design show at the BMO centre at Stamede Park. I'm planning on moving soon it would be cool to get some ideas for my new spot. Last but not least, don't forget your EARPLUGS...lol... the Monster Madness World Finals are in town! Blackberrys Cant Swim (sept 16)

Girls night went down saturday night. I will leave it to your imagination as to what went down. If you imagined my blackberry going down the toilet you would be right! I learned a trick from you guys the last time this happened to me so I thought I would share it with you once again in case your phone shares the same fate. First thing take the phone apart and do not try and turn it back on until after this process is complete. If you try and turn it on in vain you could fry the electronics. If you are not already at home, wait until you get there and grab a tupperwear container and fill it halfway with rice. Place the phone lightly on top of the rice and close the lid. Leave it for about 12 hours and when you put your phone back together it should work. The rice sucks out all the moisture and your phone should work just fine. It worked for me...twice!

I've loved Whitney for all my life, and really prayed she would make it thru all the hard times. Especially since some JERKOFF guy is basically responsible for her downfall. Well her new album is #1 (my sister said she would buy 2 just to support her) and I watched todays episode of Oprah, her big season premiere. It was very revealing but sometimes I still felt that Whitney was holding back. She talked drugs, domestic abuse and her attempt to bury the sadness. Great interview but Oprah is saving the best for tommorrows episode. Whitney is set to sing. She actually said that performance actually really took a toll on her voice, because of course you will give it your all on Oprah. I saw a clip of tommorrows show, and i almost burst into tears. Will NOT miss it.

A Cinderella Story, the shoe fits. but where is it's Right? (sept 10)

Once upon a time there was a radio DJ named Miss Ange and she walked into the control room to find one single shoe. An orange patent leather wedge in her size. It was a present from the YMCA's Walk A Mile in Her Shoes. It had Fuzzy's name on it, and information about the event on Sept 21st,noon @ Olympic Plaza. Fuzzy and Marc will both be putting on women's high heel shoes and walking in support of women and children taking steps away from domestic violence. Now Miss Ange tried on the patent leather wedge and found that it fit. But was upset that it had been separated from it's partner. A lone left shoe. A shoe who's other half had been given to an anonymous stranger. A shoe that would never live up to it's destiny upon her feet matched with a super cute outfit. SACRILEGE!!! The thought of this shoe being tossed into the trash, never to be worn, tore at Miss Ange's soul and she vowed to find the other shoe, to make the patent leather wedge whole again....To Be Continued....

I'm excited for some new movies (sept 9)

I've finally done some catching up on new flicks. I dragged my sister to see District 9. She begged me not to subject her to my science fiction nerd movie but alas she agreed. In the end she really got into it and liked it, which is good. I always feel bad when someone does not enjoy my choice. This weekend for the first time in god knows when, my whole family (sis, bro, mom and dad) went to the movies together. We saw Inglorious Basterds. I love Quentin Tarantino but I did not really dig this movie. Alot of talking not enough action. My favorite part of all movies is the Trailers and I am looking forward to a few including:

Mariah's Not so Glam Look in New Movie "Precious" (sept 8)

Hooked on 80's Flicks (Sept 7)

So I'm spending some time in Edmonton with the family and after a day of shopping, dinner and a movie I'm crashed on the couch vegging out. Scanning thru the channels and horrified to see that Dirty Dancing and Sixteen Candles are on at the same time. So I'm flipping back and forth tryna watch them at the same time and even though I've seen each a billion times. I still can't get enough. My sister and I are talking about how even if we have all these movies on DVD if it is on TV, we will watch it. Even if we have to stay up late to see the ending. An ending we have seen a thousand times! And if its on again a few days later..yes, we will watch it. I even have quite a busy lifestyle so lack of entertaining things to do is not the answer! This is a strange phenomenon I tell ya. There is something exciting about catching these time tested flicks on TV. Are you the same way? What movies can you watch over and over?? Add to my list: The Goonies (which will be at at 1am) Lost Boys, The Thomas Crown Affair...That's all I can think of right now. LOL!

Is it too early to talk about Halloween? (sept 3)

Okay, what are you gonna get dressed up as?? I thought it was kinda insane for my good friend to ask me that question. I might as well mention that she already had the answer. She said that we were all going to adopt a Wizard Of Oz theme. So I should pick out my character. I think i wanna go as the Lion. Now we also know where we are gonna party on Halloween Night Oct 31st. The Naughty Nights, "Heroes Ball" is on a Saturday and we will be at the Vibe 98.5/Netcandi party at the Big 4 Building. Its gonna be crazy!!! The party will be 4000 people deep and there will be $20,000 worth of prizes for best costume! Eh! Team Dj's will be spinning featuring DJ Pump and Hedspin on 4 turntables. Close Encounters of the White Tailed Kind (Sept 2)

Yesterday as I was leaving work, I came to the intersection of centre street and 12th ave and what do I see in front of me?? Two white tailed Deer! What the heck? I'm thinking "Oh you poor little cute children of nature..WHAT are you doing downtown!!!??. You're gonna get hit by a car!!!!" It was so out of place in my mind but when I told my friend about it, they were not surprised. Do deer normally hang out in downtown Calgary cuz I think it's pretty crazy.

Sometimes you just Need To shop (sept 1)

Maybe I'm just feeling nostalgic. That could be the excuse. If I was in school, this time of year would signify new items in my wardrobe for the new year! But I am not in school and i no longer have access to my parents bank account. But i still got some new duds! I had commited myself to NOT shop. I have tonnes of clothes. I want to challenge myself with being creative with what clothing I already own. I often avoid malls and such because I recognize I have a little bit of shopaholic in me. Fashion is like a drug...that leaves you broke but looking DAMN good. So I HAD to be in the new Cross Iron Mills Mall because I had to work a remote at the Fido Kiosk (who are GREAT by the way). As I wrapped up my duties and I made my way out of there, I decided to at least check out the place that everyone is talking about. I commited myself to the sale racks. I did score inside the Jones New York store where I got an Anne Klein Sweater for 20 dollars (originally $125). Then the shoes were calling my name from the Browns Outlet which resulted in $250 boots for $50. I thought I was done but appearing like an oasis in the dessert was the MISS SIXTY OUTLET STORE!!!!!!! I almost fainted. Miss Sixty is one of my fav brands which is hard to find and even harder to afford. From the window i spotted blue patent leather boots with a Big Fat embroidered Flower on the side. Originally $280 now about $100. They didn't fit and I was sad. They did not have my size but if you are a size 9 they may still be there! I decided to check the selection and left with an AMAZING pair of Black Super High Waisted slacks, that are delicious! I already wore them and got so many compliments! I almost didnt wanna tell anyone where I found them to preserve my signature style but I did spill the beans about Miss Sixty! Oh ladies its worth the trip up north to check it out!

Going Wireless, my journey.... (Aug 31)

So about a month ago I got rid of my bulky desktop PC and got lightweight with a Macbook Pro. I LOVE IT! Some people have a problem making the switch to MAC but I've got lots of friends that use them and they are super helpful!So now that I dont have a static desktop I wanted to make my internet connection wireless.I thought I had to call up Shaw and have them switch up my modem but the lady said I had to buy a wireless router and hook it up to my cable modem to transmit a wireless signal. 1st lesson learned. I went to the Source and got a D-link router and after spending 4 hours trying to get it to work and sitting on the phone with tech help the damn thing WOULD NOT WORK!!! The fellow on the phone determined that the router must be broken, so back to the store it went. After that experience I chose NOT to get the same brand of router. After chatting with the fellow from Staples I chose to buy a Linksys router. MUCH better. So if you have a MAC the Linksys may work better for you , plus I found the call support center much more helpful.

Co-Habitation Test Drive

I don't move in with my boyfriends. Never have, don't really want too. I think it's fine for me to have my own house until I'm ready to tie the knot. But, due to circumstances beyond my control my current BF had to move in with me for a month before he goes back to school. I love him so I'm helping him out by storing all his boxes in my small apartment and letting him crash for a little while. So you would think he would be on his best behaviour because he has wanted to move in togethor for a while. Not the case. I feel like I have a kid that I'm ALWAYS cleaning up after. Not cool, and I told him so. I basically said that I would never move in with him based on this experience. That being said...I'm wondering why the hell I'm with him anyway. Right? If I never want to live with him then what's the point. Oh dear, Am I at a crossroads?

Drew Barrymore made me do it....(aug 21)

So I usually only wear make-up when I'm going out dancing. But I do love the stuff and occasionally find a product I love like the L'oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara. The stuff washes off without leaving me with big black circles under my eyes. Amazing! So I'm watching TV and there is my fav Drew Barrymore pitching a new CoverGirl Oulast Lipstain. Of course if Drew Barrymore says to buy it ..I will. I'm a sucker, but I also liked the idea of a lip STAIN that would stain my lips and not come off. So I bought some. The darkest color which pretty much goes on red. It's pretty. So I put it on, wait for it to dry as much as I could before I licked my lips and noticed the color went straight into my mouth and kinda stained my teeth which is BAD! I drank some water and the color was gone from my teeth, so first off...dont lick your lips, or maybe blot and make sure the stuff is dry..but then still...maybe don't lick your lips. Which sucks. SO after drinking Tea, and Water and eating some soup I took a look at my lips. Do you know when you drink wine how that inside part of you lip gets stained by the wine. Well that's what my lips looked like. The stain really took to that inside part of my lips which kinda looks crappy.So I think I will experiment with it some more, but overall, I'm pretty sure you should NOT pay the 10 bux for this one.

Globalfest PART 3 Oneworld Fest and Fireworks Fest (aug 20)

So the last part of Globalfest begins tommorrow(aug 21) with two big events at Elliston park. Not only is there the amazing Fireworks festival after sundown but it also features the "Oneworld Festival" featuring food and entertainment pavillions all over the park. Gates open at 6pm each night so bring your comfy chairs and blankets and cop a good spot and make an evening of it! Here is the schedule:

Saved by the HONK! ( aug 19)

So today I avoided DISASTER!!!! I was almost T-Boned by some nutjob lady driving a mini-van straight through a red light! I do beleive someone was looking over me because, I had a slow start off the green light as it looked as though a pedestrian was about to cross as I was making left turn (the intersection had no oncoming traffic at all). As I inched into the intersection I heard a loud Honk! from a Van parked at the red light. I slammed on my brakes wondering what was up as this lady whizzed pass my bumper missing me by inches! This guy saved me from a massive car accident maybe even my life. THANK YOU! I hope you win the Lottery. As for the lady driving with no concern for traffic laws, I hope you get a butt rash that never clears up and burns and itches for LIFE!

Am I turning into an old lady....???

Sooo.... 3 O'clock this morning, I had enough of my neighbors loud party and walked over and asked if they could turn down the tunes. They asked me to join, but I told them i had to work and would be stoked if they could just turn it down or off, or even SHUT all the open windows. They said okay and I went home...1 hour later, the music is louder than ever so i just went ahead and called the cops and made a noise complaint thinking that with all the stuff calgary police have to deal with I doubt that anything would happen.. As i was laying in bed getting NO sleep I thought to myself that I must be turning into an old lady. LOL , shutting down a party? NOT ME!!! But I must admit, had I NOT had to work today, I would have probably crashed the party...! Looks like I still got some crazy girl left in me, but I HATE working with a hangover. No Fun.

Cyber Clean....have u seen this thing?

I saw this commercial the other day for a product called "CyberClean" its basically a moldable putty that you can press onto the tiny crevices in your car that are so HARD to clean. The grime just sticks to this stuff and comes of leaving the surface free of crumbs, dust and gunk. Spic and span! They also showed how it can clean up electronic devices such as keyboards and cells phones. You press this play-doe type stuff onto the surface and it molds into the tiny creases of the device and removes the dirt. I was amazed, but things always work so much better on TV then they do in real life. Has anybody tried this stuff??

After repeat visits to the Repair shop, I think its time to get into a new car. Keep in mind I would rather avoid a car payment in general but I think it's worth the piece of mind. So my wonderful sister bought a couple car mags to help me with research, but the way it looks I will end up in a Toyota or Honda. I have been in a Mazda Protege and was thinking of upgrading to the 2010 Mazda 3. Its a good looking car and most people seem to like theirs. What kind of car do you have, do you love it?? I have been waiting for summer, lets hope it sticks around for a while. The forecast is calling for some pretty dope weather for this weekend and in addition to the river float, BBQ's and patio chillin', there are some fun events to check out while under the blazing rays. Starting tommorrow (July 17) Latin Fest will heat up Olympic plaza and you can enjoy the food music and entertainment for FREE!!! WE LOVE FREE!!! Car Pool Lane???07/15

I did not know that Calgary had Car pool Lanes. Don't get me wrong, I think it's GREAT! Encourage people to car pool by giving them acess to a lane that may move faster than the rest. I just did not know there were any in calgary...until yesterday. I think I found the ONLY one tho. Center street, going north from downtown during rush hour the far right hand lane is for busses and carpool only. As I was cruising into work I got pulled over and was confused as to why, the police officer filled me in. I was a single person driving in the car pool lane. Of course I told him I was unaware, and all my sweetness and smiling didn't get me out of a ticket. I guess I'm not blond or busty enough! 60 bux!! Mastermind says I should fight it...I really don't have the energy for that, but I also don't have an extra 60 bux to throw away on a stupid ticket! Blah!

I'm a Mac

I finally have done away with my mangy virus ridden slow as mollasses desktop PC. I knew I wanted a Laptop and I finally made the switch to Mac because Mac users seem to always gush about how much they LOVE thier computers. So I finally dished out the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for my new 15" Macbook Pro. I will keep you posted on my transition because not everybody loves Mac. Begins at 8:55 a.m. on Friday, July 3.  

Parade route and details 
 
Ø       Prelude parade with on-street entertainers, clowns, dancers and fiddlers begins at 7:30 a.m. to entertain patient spectators.

Ø       With 80 per cent of the route dedicated to free, unreserved seating, the best views are almost anywhere.

Ø       The parade begins at Sixth Ave. and Third St. S.E. and travels west to 10 St. S.W. Ø       It then travels south to Ninth Ave. and then east to Fourth St. S.E.

Ø       To accommodate construction the parade will end one block earlier at Ninth Ave. and Third St. S.E.

Ø    City streets and transit in downtown Calgary are closed on parade day beginning at 7:30 a.m.  

Parade Viewing Tips  


Ø       “Bums on the curb, feet in the gutter” is the golden rule of parade viewing! Parade viewing must take place on or behind the sidewalks.

Ø       Keep a close eye on children during the parade as it is unsafe for them to run onto the route f
or handshakes, autographs or hugs.

Ø       Remember to pack the sunscreen! It may be cool before the parade starts, but it can quickly heat up. Bring a hat, blanks, water, and sunscreen. Please avoid bringing umbrellas, it could end up obstructing someone else’s parade view.

Ø       If you must cross the parade route, and there is no +15-skywaslk available nearby, ask a police officer or street marshal to escort you.

Ø       No pets allowed on parade route.

Crazy up! Crazy Down! Crazy surrounds me!

Okay, so I've been blessed to live in the same place for 6 years. The rent is great, it's a good building and my neighbors were awesome. Until now. The building got bought out by a couple of guys who will rent to any nutjob that knocks on the door. Now I have two crazy couples living in my 8 unit building. The one above started buzzing my apartment at 5:30am on saturday morning because I guess he bought some flowers for his crackhead girlfriend and she hurled them off the balcony. He NEEDED to get them. He was buzzing the wrong apartment because the flowers had landed on the patio of the unit underneath me. You think this wingnut could have waited until a DECENT hour to buzz the crap out of my home?? Then last night, big fight between the white trash couple beneath my unit. 3am. Yelling, slamming doors and stomping around. So I guess it's time to move on. My home hunt has begun! Still thinking I might just buy. But when you own a home and psycho's move in next door, its a little harder to make a move....things to think about.

Transformers! More than meets the eye!! 06/23

Oh yes, I saw that flick last night. Just as the premiere was going down in Hollywood, we Calgary folk were also sitting back in our theatre chairs and taking in the spectacle. Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen. Awesome movie. Great effects but I have to say there were some moments of sensory overload. So much going on the screen that you can't tell what's what. I think I would have preferred that they zoom out more so you can actually see the action. Sometimes it looked like swirling hunks of robot. Also slow down the motion more so the audience can really absorb the awesomeness of the special effects. Other than that I could have done without my dates drooling over Megan Fox...but what can you do, the chick is super hot! It's in theatres tommmorrow. Check it out, great summertime BLOCKBUSTER!!!

Scarred for Life??? 06/22

Do you remember that movie you saw when you were young that left you damaged somehow? It scared you and it stuck with you. It could have been a disney movie that had some wierd scary moment that you just could not handle at your young age. My friend said there was a scene in Dumbo with some pink elephants dancing and they had no eyes. She couldn't shake that image from her mind for years. My movies were more intense. Movies my mother would have never let me watch so i would sneak to a friends house to watch them and then she had to deal with my nightmares later. Gremlins...thats the one that did it to me. So I was in edmonton over the weekend and my sister said she was gonna take my niece to Disney Pixars Up!. We thought our 5 year old niece would love it. It actually scared her. I was surprised. My sister offered up her lap so our little niece could make it through. Some kids were even crying. You wouldn't think that Up! would scare kids. And then you feel like you have done something bad. Somehow scarring your beloved kid/niece/nephew/young friend for life! Oh well, I guess its a learning process.

Livin' on the edge....06/18

So I have been biking to work...as you may have heard. I try to avoid biking in the rain. Every now and then I have been caught in a little bit of a drizzle. Today, as I got ready to mount up and head into work I noticed some pretty hard core clouds to the north of the city. I could hear the thunder. I was thinking that I might abondon my bike trek, but I thought I could do it. I thought I could make it to work before it started to really pour. I'm biking and looking at the menacing clouds roll over downtown. So I started to burn down the Bow Pathway and as I made my way up center street it started with a little spitting, then the rain came..and it came down hard! But I kept pushing thru, I was only 3 blocks away. And then, the hail. HAIL!!! Those little ice pellets were tearing into my bare legs(I was wearing shorts) like razors! I was not the only one caught out there, so at least I had company, I sought shelter under a nearby awning and waited for the hail to let up and then I pulled out my umbrella, ella, ella and walked my bike the rest of the way to work watching the lighting come down super close. I got in the elevator and when it opened a bunch of my co-workers were standing there. Eyes wide as my dripping wet self got off the elevator. They felt pity for me, looking like a wet kitten, some laughed. In all it was a pretty interesting way to start my shift. Good thing I always bring a change of clothes!! I hope my bike gear dries out before I have to bike home!

I feel like a sadist watching it. Near drowning and massive bodily injury. Even tho everything is padded, all those crashes look like they hurt. Is it worth $50 000 to put yourself thru that? Still love watching it tho...random thoughts....enjoy :)

Crappy Chemicals 06/16

There is so much crap around now-a-days that is packed with chemicals. We have no idea what kind of effect they have on our bodies. Scientists will test these chemical compounds on adult lab rats to see what kind of effect it will possibly have on humans. But what about babies?? Remember BPA? Bisphenol-A? That chemical is used to make plastics hard and shatterproof. It was found to cause developmental defects in babies. It was found in ALL sorts of childrens toys, baby bottles, water bottles etc... this stuff will leach into the milk in the baby bottle, especially when heated and it also leaches into the water in water bottles. Sales of glass baby bottles went thru the roof. People (including myself) started to make a switch. Drinking from metal and glass containers and looking for products that are BPA free. Welcome the next crappy chemical that is said to cause defects in male babies specifically. So much so, there has been a decrease in male births worldwide. They are called Phthalates (pronounced THALATES). This chemical is used to make plastics soft and bendy. It also is in plenty of childrens toys, medical supplies and tubing, lotions , make-up, hair conditioner & anti-persperant to name a few. So I'm on a mission to find products that DO NOT contain phthalates. Wal-Mart made it easy on me. There is a section in their beauty section which features organic and phthlate free products including a range of products from Burts Bee's. Thought i would pass along a message for the health of all!!

Woooo! 7-11 Slurpee Sunday was FUN!! 06/15

I was working hard yesterday. I made the rounds around the northeast serving up free slurpees, DVD's, Movies passes, Gift Cards and Concert tickets! The weather was HOT, the sun shining and people came out in droves to hook up with the free goodies! If you didn't get a chance to hook up THIS sunday, we will be at it EVERY sunday this summer. It is the 7-11 SLURPEE SUNDAYS!!!! Basically just listen to the radio to hear where the Slurpee Patrol is, find them and stick your hand in the magic box o' prizes and see what you get!!! Ah what a great summer time treat!

The Official Calgary Pathway Rules : 06/11

I had a BIG response to my talk about sharing the pathway. It seems alot of people don't really know the rules that govern it's use. So thanks to Melissa Malejko from the City of Calgary Park Rangers Bike Team for providing this information:

The pathway bylaw clearly states that anyone using the pathway MUST stay to the right of the centre line except:

a) when passing someone travelling in the same direction,
b) when the pathway to the right of centre is obstructed,
c) when the pathway to the right of centre is closed to pathway users or
d) when turning left off the pathway.

Further, you can be fined under the bylaw, with the fine being $100 for "Travelling left of centre line of pathway where prohibited" (ie anywhere where one of the above exceptions isn't met).

Ding! Ding! That's the sound the bell on my bike makes. I just got my bike tuned up and I ride it to work any chance I get. I love the fact I do not have to deal with all the traffic, save on gas and get some excercise! I was rolling down the beautiful Bow Pathway on the way to work today at around 12:30pm. It a busy time. Alot of people getting in a noon hour work out. You have to slow it down and be cautious because there are so many people.Today there was a large group of women going for a power walk (good for them!!) but they were walking side by side and took up most of the path, so i dinged my lil bell as I tried to pass them. It took a minute but they finally parted to let me past, but a woman gave me such a dirty look and said, "they really need to make another path for bikes". I was pretty upset by that comment. That path is for EVERYBODY. Walkers, Runners, Rollerbladers, Skateboarders and Cyclists. Share! When I spoke about this on air I got a good question. Someone wanted to know which side to let someone pass. Well if you hear my little ding, I will be passing on the left. That is pretty much the rule. Just like the highway!

Next stop World Poker Tour....06/08

Yeah, that's pushing it. But I did win a few BIG hands during my charity poker tournament on Saturday. It was a great fun event and poker is VERY addicting. My friend Shayne organized this event and her parents were there to support. At the beginning, Shayne's mom swore up and down she wasn't gonna play because she had no idea how. I told her to give it a shot, since it was all in good fun! So she took a seat at my table, eventually took a BIG chunk of my money and when she finally lost all her chips, she was a poker addict! Telling me she wanted more chips! Good times, poker is fun! I hope to improve my skills in time for the next charity poker tournament. I will stick to those beacause I'm not much of a gambler.

I love a good backyard Fire Pit!

Ahhh summertime weather and all that it goes with. On days like this I wish I had a backyard. Its a good thing my boyfriend does and while soaking in the rays on his southfacing backyard we started talking about building a fire pit. Its always great to ease into the night with good friends as the sun sets. It even keeps the mosquitos away! But with SO many people acting irresponsible calgary bylaw is thinking of banning backyard firepits altogether..NO! No!!!!

So here are the rules, follow them!

All fires must be:

• In a fire pit or receptacle constructed of non-combustible material.
• In a fire pit built into the bare ground or set upon non-combustible material such as brick or stone (if not in a receptacle).
• Not within 2 metres of the property line, building or fence, or beneath any trees or branches (or other combustible materials).
• Kept to a reasonable size (under 1m both height and width) so the fire, embers, sparks or dense smoke do not endanger anyone or cause a nuisance on any neighbouring properties.
• Fully supervised at all times.
• Fully extinguished by 1:00 a.m.  You may relight the fire after 10:00 a.m. the following morning.

You must have a means to extinguish the fire on hand at all times.  The fire must be extinguished completely, leaving only cold ashes, prior to leaving the fire.

You cannot burn:

• Treated or painted lumber
• Lumber products containing glue or resin
• Wet or unseasoned wood
• Leaves, brush or yard waste
• Garbage
• Rubber, tires or plastic
• Animal carcasses or parts

"Just Stop Eating" 06/02

That's what my thin thin Southern California friend told me to do to loose weight. They are a different breed of chicks down there. FORGET THAT!! I can't. I love food. The key is to kick my addiction to cheese and more cheese...lol!! My bathing suit season came early as I took off to the VERY hot Phillipines last week. I spent the entire time in my bathing suit. I told my girl to remind me to suck it in (my stomach) before taking pictures! So with bathing suit season almost upon us I have decided to follow some guidelines.


1) Cardio Work out (I like to  power walk) as soon as I get up on an empty stomach.

2) Drink lotsa Water

3) Do resistance training to burn more fat ( I am using resistance bands instead of weights, I got some SUPER CHEAP at the Safeway on 8th Downtown)

4) Cut out the booze (so hard during patio season) so I'll cut DOWN the booze! lol

5) Eat small meals frequently during the day and avoide carbs at night(which is SUPER hard cuz i work late and LOVE midnight snacks and Carbs is what I crave!)


I just hope I stick with it! The trick is finding yummy HEALTHY things. I have cut out carbs sidedish-wise. I just eat protein and veggies. Trying to tone up and be happy and healthy!

Back From Paradise!!! 05/25

Hey all. I am back from a lil voyage into paradise. One of those pure and simple getaways. An escape from the trappings of modern life, TV, Radio, paved roads, Shopping malls and trendy window shopping. Smog and traffic Jams. All gone and replaced with stunning sunrises, a sea the color I've never seen before and even when you jump in at the deepest part still the temperature of a warm bath! Surf and white sand beaches. Locals that don't speak much english but greet you with pure kindness and a smile. Small villages and huts. Chickens and pigs. Huge Oxen riden by small children. Travel by Motorbike and pontoon boats! I recommend you travel to the Philippines!! My Island was called Siargao. I stayed at Sagana resort. If you have the means do make the beautiful journey!

Time for a SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!!!! And I'll be there!!

Sunshine to hold annual Snow Dump on  the 200 block of Stephen Avenue Downtown

Winter's over, but the skiing isn't.

In fact, spring skiing is in its prime. Sunshine has five tonnes of Canada's Best Snow to prove it.

Sunshine Village will dump five tonnes of snow on the Stephen Avenue walkway on Monday, April 20th at Noon as a gentle reminder that the sunniest skiing and riding in Canada is just 90 minutes away.

Festivities will include an appearance by the Coors Light Girls, courtesy of our partners at Molson, and a draw for a pair of lift tickets for onlookers.

- Spirts up $2.85 for similar size bottle.


Overall, liquor tax changes will raise $180 million.

Why do people make computer Viruses?

With a big Virus scare gripping the world for April Fools day you have to wonder..is just an April Fools joke? I recently renewed my virus software, so I hope I am hoping that the "Confiker" Worm will not tear apart my mainframe!. I have so many questions...WHY??? Why make this Virus, I never did anything to anyone..why am I and the rest of the world being punished, and after forking over 100 bux for another anti-virus update,you wonder WHO is making these copmuter threats? The only people profiting from it would be the anti-virus industry! I also wanna know why MAC's dont get any virus's. I am getting one the next time I purchase a computer!

Winter...It's not you, It's me.

Oh Winter, this is hard for me to tell you since we have had some good times over the past few months, but I don't see a future for us. I think it's time we went our seperate ways. I know Saturday night couldn't be avoided, I had alot to drink and you came out of nowhere, its going to take a while to erase the effects of that meeting from my mind. But I assure you, winter, that it's over. I have met someone new, Spring, and Spring and I feel very deeply about eachother. I need to move forward with our relationship. I know we suffered a setback, you are a force that cannot be resisted, but seriously. Leave me alone. Do i need to get a restraining order? :)

Signs of Spring?? (march 2)

I'm not a big fan of flies. I guess I like flies better than mosquitos and wasps. Flies don't bite, but when I think about how flies come to be...it's kinda disgusting. I saw a fly today buzzing about on my balcony. It was a very warm day out today, like 12 degrees so I wonder if this is a true sign of spring. With 18 days to go until the first OFFICIAL day of spring I guess I can look to the fly as a positive sign. I dunno where this fly came from since it was prety damn cold even on saturday night. Maybe its some sort of super fly...do fly's hibernate? Was it frozen and finally got thawed out today? Maybe it was hiding out in someones house and escaped into the sunshine today.I do not have the answer, but I do know Calgary can be quite unaccomodating when it comes to obeying the arrival of spring! I am more than ready :)

If you are like me and left it to the last minute...deadline for RRSP's is Midnight Tommorrow (Fri Feb 27th)..actually just got a call the deadline in midnight on Monday(March 2nd).

SO its time...the deadline is...i dunno. Its soon. I should go get my RRSP tommorrow. I am torn between that and a Tax Free Savings account. What is better, i dunno! I will ask the bank person tommorrow and let you know what happened. Man I wish that i was more adept an managing my finanaces!

Rude Awakening

So this morning (and I am not a morning person)I was awaken by the fire alarm in my building. I shot up and threw on my jeans and ran out of my bedroom sniffing the air for smoke. I came out of my apartment in my disheveled glory to see some guy fiddling with the fire alarm. I asked him if he was testing the fire alarm, he said yes and apologized. He did not have to say sorry because he was just from the fire department doing his job. My jerk of a landlord failed to notice me of any test almost leading to a freaking heart attack on my part. I plan on filing a complaint cuz he really sucks as building manager.

Yay, customer apprectation day at Mcdonalds! I pretty much stay away from the fast food, but today I may just indulge. Mcdonalds is hooking you up. Buy one Big Mac, Quarter Pounder or McChicken and you'll get another for just 1 cent.(Just don't eat both yourself!) Yum...greasy goodness.

Off the Sauce(feb16)

So I decided to take a break from sipping on the boozy bevvies. Just giving my body a chance to reset to a non-party mode. Not so hard to do becuase I am not a raving alcoholic but people are not being very supportive. At the Whiskey on friday I was TRYING to be a good hostess as usual, welcoming the sexy party people with a complimetary drink, but it was not enough. They seemed almost offended when I told them I would not be joining them in a happy friday cocktail.I have been staying at home to avoid the temptation but I think I will just ask the bertender to serve me up a virgin version as to avoid and grief from anyone! Lost(and found) Phone (Feb 12th)

Almost 2 weeks ago I lost my phone at the Whiskey. I exhausted my efforts with staff asking everyone if they had found it. No-one had. Now that phone was on its last legs, it was not working well after going for a swim in water(my fault) and it took a shower in Vodka(not my fault).I DID need a new one but I had not got around to it yet. I was more concerned with all my contacts (I could have saved them to my computer but, as usual, had not got around to that). So off I went to get a new phone. Then yesterday, a package arrives for me at the radio station, inside is my phone!!! There was no return adress on the envelope. The letter inside apoligized for having to search through my phone to figure out who's it was (good thing there were no naughty pics on it) and the delay in returning it. It was signed "V". So I NEVER expected to see that phone again, I have moved on to a better one now but am glad to have all my contacts back! So THANK YOU "V" for returning my phone to me!!!

Taxes (Feb 11th)

I made the announcement during a staff meeting yesterday that I had done my taxes, I think people were impressed until I revealed it was for LAST year :)I have never had to pay extra taxes so I was under no pressure to do them on time, but seeing as Tax time for THIS year is upon us again I kinda feel ashamed of myself. The fact is I actually wanted to save my Tax refund for when I needed it...it was like a lil safety net, some cash I could access that was hidden away from my spending spree ways. And after massive car repair bills and losing my phone I need it now. I think i will file my tax return on time this year!!

Clearing the Clutter! (Feb 9th)

Well..it was a long time coming. I had to declutter the place of extreme rest and relaxation! My bedroom. So I convinced my sister to come with me to IKEA. IKEA is a source of stress for me because not only is the massive-ness of it a lil intimidating, I know I have to assemble all of it! My sister is amazing, helped me get it all done in one weekend. Re-organized, clean and spotless! Now all I want to do is get the whole crib done to the same standard of spic and span! One room down...the rest to go....:)

2009 Burton Canadian Open (Feb 5)

Its been going on all week , and with the events taking place during the day you may have missed the action. No worries the big finals are set for Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday they have the men and womens halpipe semi-finals and finals and on Sunday they have the mens and womens slopestyle semi-filnals and finals. Check it out at COP! Also this weekend the BOAT EXPO at the round up center. Its hard to think about going to the lake during the dead of winter but I guess some people wanna get prepared. How to meet a woman and marry her in 6 months

If you're a guy, would you go to a seminar with a title like that? I'm thinking no. But there is a seminar just like that for women out there. "How to meet a man and marry him in 6 months". What is the rush? Are there THAT many desperate ladies out there that they are literally HUNTING men. Scheming and planning, running through some pre-made list of directions on how to meet a man? Myself and Chelsea think it is pretty demeaning. I will NOT be going. I think it usually takes more than 6 months to decide if you wanna get married unless you are involved in one of those rare "love at first sight" situations. Its CRAP like this that MEN and society are feeding woman to make them feel inferior and incomplete if they are not married."You're running out of time!!!" making us panic. FORGET THAT, men can smell desperation. Work on yourself, complete yourself and everything else will fall into place. I know so many girls now that were so desperate to get married they made the wrong decision. They are in relationships that are lacking in so many ways. Married and unhappy or single and happy. Which would you prefer??

I didnt care, but watched it anyway! (Feb 2)

I don't care about football and I was planning to just hit the gym while the Superbowl game was on. In the end I met up with a friend and watched it looking forward to the funny commercials and then remembered that Canada sucks for cutting out all the great American TV Spots. Then I remembered that Jennifer Hudson would be singing the National Anthem and was excited to see that! Her rendition almost brought me to tears! The game turned out to be pretty awesome and packed with action especially in the 4th quarter! Today, tho, I read that both Faith Hill and J-Hud lypsynched thier performances. I could not tell at the time but I was pretty disappointed to find that out. I guess it was not thier idea. The producer insisted that they lyp sync. I guess he did not have faith in thier talent which is too bad. Oh well. now we wait for the the next big sport final. THE STANLEY CUP! betcha can't wait.

Mini mitts, not mini gloves....mini MITTS!!!!

Okay, maybe ya'll can help me out. About 3 years ago I was at superstore and I stocked up on Mini Mitts, now they are just like mini gloves, but they are actually MITTENS, like all your fingers together with only your thumb seperate. lol! Well I had about 25 pairs and over the years I have lost them one by one. I only have two pairs left and I have searched the web, seriously, and I have never run across anything like them again! I have this condition where the tips of my fingers turn white when it is just a lil bit cold out so having these mitts are the perfect thing. Have you seen anything like this ANYWHERE in Calgary. If so let me know! :) Love

Car Headaches...is it time for a new one?(jan 27)

The car is 10 years old, I'm getting fleeced on car repairs! If I had a mechanic boyfriend or friend I could avoid this whole headache, but seeing as that is not the case I have to put my trust is some crooked and greedy autoshops(aka Parkdale Auto). I left my car with them, dropped 250 bux and my car is in worse shape than when I dropped it off. What has a girl got to do to be treated with some fairness? I am so sad and stressed out!

Out of the five styles he’s created for the iconic brand, a style with a quilted back debuted during the line’s fall menswear presentation in Paris yesterday. After the show, WWD caught up with the new footwear designer to hear more. “I was inspired by the movie Dune. The collection had all these jackets that were very padded. They looked like maybe they had hockey pads in the jacket, and there was one where the collar came up really high. I took that element, and I put that on the back of the shoe. It’s like the opposite of the tongue. Usually you have the tongue at the front. [This is] like a tongue at the back,” explained Kanye. Clueless about Car Repair (Jan 21)

Oil changes? Check! Tire Pressure? Check! I try to take care of my car but its 10 years old and it's bound to break down. I guess I should be relieved that my car did not break down, but my 'check engine' light did come on, and stay on. It's a wierd feeling because my car is running but that "check engine" light reminds me that something is wrong. I was crying about the whole thing on the radio and I got a hot tip from a great guy on the Vibe line. He said to take my car to Auto Value and they would use thier computer to figure out why the check engine light came on. They priced out the part I needed and did not charge me anything for all that help. Now when I go into the fix-it shop I will have an idea of how much it should cost me to fix. Now I won't feel so vulnerable, information is power!

Barackorama (Jan 20th)

I spent all day watching the coverage of events for today, the 20th of January 2009. The day the first black President was sworn into the White House! The day that alot of African Americans thought they would never see. I made a point of making a mental record in my mind of my age, what I was doing and how I was feeling. I will keep a copy of the Hot 6@6 and the newspaper so I will remember what was happening in my world on this day. I know I am not an American but I can't help but join in the celebrations and the wave of hope. I cannot recall a time when a country united in celebration of a president. The way Obama speaks has a way of bringing me to tears. What a great day!

Big deal Kanye...this dude is so sensitive, I mean i can't see any grey...can you?

My New Fav Mascara! (Jan 13th)

Okay soo....mascara. I think it is my second favorite make-up tool other than blush. I had been using Shiseido Mascara because it stays on well and makes my eyelashes HUGE, but getting it off is another story. The reason I don't wear mascara that much is because it seems so hard to remove from my face. First I tried all sorts of cleansers, I finally landed on Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser. It seems to get all the make up off without leaving that annoying residue on my lower lid that makes me look like I have dark circles under my eyes. But there is still the problem of all that rubbing on my sensitive eye area. So when i saw the commercial for Loreal's "Double Extend" Mascara with Beauty Tubes Technology. I thought I would give it a try. Not only does it make my eyelashes look awesome, long and thick it comes of so quick with a li'l soap and water and does not bleed off your eyelashes leaving it dripping down your cheeks, it comes off in tubes, clean and done! Give it a shot if you have the same problem. LOVE!

I'm in LOVE....with a phone

So a friend of mine got a new phone. The LG Reveal, it's a pretty purple phone with flower details.(click on that pic to the left to see it) It's a flip phone that looks like a compact with a full Qwerty Keyboard. I want it....I WANT IT! Problem is. It is only available thru Bell. I am with Rogers with almost 2 years left on my contract. I do not know if the service will be up to par if I switch and I got lots of calls about it. Arguments for both sides, some trashed Bell, others love Bell. I just wish all phones could be GSM. I wish you could get any phone you wanted regardless of who your service provider is. Just slip in your SIM card and away you go! Anyway...it looks like I will have to live without my pretty purple phone. :( But...I still want it! arrrrg.....

New Gym! (Jan 6)

So way back when I asked for help finding a Gym to work out at. I decided that Talisman would work out well because they had a Pool which is one of the features I required. Well I went for 4 monthes and I have BAILED! I hated it. There was always a gaggle of screaming and crying kids and screeching teenage girls in the change rooms which were small, old and shabby. The Steam room is my way to decompress after a hard work out and it was always full of creepy old men who made the most disgusting sounds! The Hot Tub was skunky. The stretching space was limited as well. So now I am at Mount Royal. I decided to join because one of my girlfriends works out there and she is quite the Gym Bunny.She had the same experience at Talisman as me and she raves about Mount Royals Gym. She has an amazing body and she agreed to help me out now and then. I'm stoked to work out at a really nice facility!

Bad Christmas Karma Revisted (Dec 29)

So when i was a young pup, I purchased a christmas gift for my pops, it was WHitney Houstons first album. My dad had no idea who she was at the time so he was quite perplexed when he opened up this gift for "him". It was really for me and I know he never listened to it once, meanwhile I knew every word and note. Well Karma finally evened the score this year when my lil niece purchased me a webkins. A lil stuffed animal that you create an account for online then you have to log on and feed and clean them or they die. Yeah...this is something i really need or want. I laughed my ass off. I love Karma, queen of balance, so now off i go to create my webkins account and make the best of it!

Dec 22 : Another Casualty of the Icy Roads

Well kids, I rear ended someone today. I was on my way to work on one of those backroads..you know the ones the city has not even bothered to clear or sand. I had no chance.... Glad to say there was no real damage, we'll see if I get a call from the dude demading money for his "whiplash". I have to say that coming from Edmonton the way the city of Calgary deals with snowfall is pitiful. It's too bad you can't sue the city for negligence causing accidents by failing to provide a basic service to the residents. So although I do enjoy the calm nightime snowfalls that produce big, fat fluffy flakes. The driving conditions can take all the joy away. I am planning on driving to Edmonton for christmas, I hope the QEII is in good condition or I might be busing it! Be safe and drive smart!

Never forget your passport

Well kids, I made a huge mistake. On my time off i went to Vancouver to visit friends, the plan was to go to Mount Baker to snowboard. Well there was no snow, but we rented this pimp cabin and decided to go anyway and relax and party. Mount Baker is in Washington, we had to drive across the border and I forgot my passport in Calgary. The potential was there for the whole trip to be ruined by my mistake. Boy I got grilled by this border agent. "You just don't care" she said, "You think you can just come into the U.S. whenever you want without any documentation". I was almost in tears trying to explain that it was just a mistake! She put me through the ringer. I don't even wanna think about it, I have post traumatic stress! Anyway i got through...thinking that it wouldn't be an issue coming back across. WRONG! The Canadian border agent told me that just because I was allowed into the U.S. does not mean they have to let me back in Canada. Seeing as I am back and on the air...you know the end to the story. And the morel? NEVER FORGET YOUR PASSPORT!!!!

Joking about Christmas Oranges

I will not take them for granted. I am addicted like Crack. I know they will eventually dissapear. I love my mandarin x-mas oranges. They dissapear so fast as soon as christmas is over. From the first moment I see them in the store I buy them, and I keep stocked up on my easy to peel fruity friends. It feels like an eternity to peel a regular orange. What's the deal? Why can't we have them all year round? This is 2008! There must be a technology that would have me supplied with them 365 days a year. *sigh*. In a perfect world. :) :) Love!

Meteor Sighting!!!

Here is an article i found concerning that bright flash in the sky that so many of you witnessed!!!



A massive ball of fire that lit up the skies over two Western Canadian provinces on Thursday evening was likely among the biggest meteor events to be witnessed in Canada this year, one expert said.

The fireball, which streaked through the darkening skies over Alberta and Saskatchewan at about 5:30 p.m. Calgary time, likely weighed between one and 10 tons and shone brightly enough to be seen over an area 700 km (435 miles) wide.

"It was somewhere between the size of a chair to the size of a desk," said Alan Hildebrand, a planetary scientist at the University of Calgary and a co-ordinator of a fireball reporting service.

"This one was pretty spectacular. For this year it will be one of the biggest that happens over Canada.... Something like this radiates like a billion-watt bulb. It's pretty bright light in the sky."

Hildebrand said the meteor may have broken into hundreds of smaller meteorites that likely landed in central Saskatchewan near that province's border with Alberta.

The fireball lit up the skies for about five seconds, he said.

Sunshine Village is open, with a rockin’ 60-cm base of pure, natural snow.
The Gondola is open as of 8am on Friday.



The Strawberry lift will open at 9 a.m., and two quads – WaWa and Standish – will be in operation by noon.
Guests are advised to ski and ride with care, because terrain will be somewhat limited and there may be some natural unmarked hazards.

Saturday, expect the Jackrabbit and Wolverine lifts to be open.

More runs are expected open Saturday, as crews finish preparing runs. Early season discounts apply, with Friday’s rate at $55.95, plus GST.

New Star Trek, Original Enterprise

J.J. Abrams, director of the new Star Trek, wanted to make the Enterprise look more like the original but with a modern twist.(check out the pic) The Movie will be out in May, and being the (moderate)Trekkie that I am, I'm pretty excited. I heard that the official Trailer/Preview of the Flick will show during the new James Bond Movie, Quantum of Solace. I was talking with another fellow trekkie who said die-hard fans will purchase tickets to James Bond JUST to see the Trailer. Most will leave after seeing it. If you see the movie over the weekend, watch to see if that REALLY happens. You gotta be a huge trekkie nerd to pay big bucks just to see a trailer. I would stick around for the movie as well!!

Oh the HUMDITY! (or lack there of)

I dunno 'bout you, but it feels like every last drop of Moisture has left the air! My lips are chapped, the inside of my nose is all dry, my skin is itchin' like crazy. So I have the Humidifier back in effect. It runs all day and night(I will see the damage on my electricity bill I'm sure). I found the most amazing skin lotion that you have to try. It's DOVE "cream oil". It has to be the best moisturizer I have ever used! I also try and drink lots 'n' lots of water. You would think I was voting for the President

I do not know why I feel this way, but if McCain is the next President I feel like evil prevailed. All I can do is watch the coverage of the election. I'm mesmirized. I was driving today and saw a big SUV with "Obama" scrawled all over it and American flags waving from the windows. I called all my American friends to make sure they were going to vote. It is amazing how this one election has everyone so electified. Our election was a bore, and getting people, especially young people like myslef to vote was IMPOSSIBLE! I cannot wait for a leader with charisma and true character to lead our country. Someone with a revolutionary way of solving our problems. Not a leader that prides him/herself by digging into the taxpayers pockets, throwing money at problems and never getting a solution. I don't want to get worked up about it, but I pray Obama wins!

Costume Shoppe is Amazing!!!

So i am super stoked about tonights party at the Whiskey because the Costume Shoppe in Inglewood hooked me up. I am a Killer Doll tonight and a few days ago I walked into thier store and said so! They took me to everything I needed to make my outfit amazing..and it is. Come down to tonight to check it out. (little yellow dress with abig fat lace crinolin(i dunno how to spell that) underneath. Flu Shot Fallout!!

Sooo... I decided to get a flu shot this year. I was watching the news and those smart scientists decided that last years flu shot did not work very well so they went back to the drawing board and started from scratch and built a new and fancy flu fighting vaccine. I know that there are sometimes some side effects. After I got the shot, which was pretty much pain-less, the nurse told me to hang around for about 15 minutes to make sure I did not have some crazy allergic reaction including Soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given other side effects are fever (low grade)& aches.I experienced a side effect that was not listed and that was FATIGUE!!! I had the flu shot yesterday(oct29th) and today I was so freeaaking tired. All I wanted to do was sleep. I know it had to be from the Flu shot because I had lots of sleep that night. You see someone wearing the same thing as you? I know most women would agree with me but what about guys? The T-shirt is, for those who choose, a way to express thier style. Style to me is an artform. There is good art and bad art and the same goes for style. I was on 17th ave the other day, and right around Mount Royal Village (where that super high tech bathroom is) I met a kid/street vendor named Bryce. He has a company called Boner Clothing(there is an accent on the "e" so it is pronounced Bow-Nair). He was selling really amazing T-shirts and the most unique thing about them is they are limited edition T's. The company only makes a maximum of 20 of each print, so the chance of you seeing that design on ANYONE else is decreased! I love that. Have you heard of Hemp Hearts???

So I was at this random deli called Alpine Sausage on 37th street. As me and a friend were checking it out I ran across this product called Hemp Hearts. It claims to give you enough energy to last all day and take away hunger. You have to add about 8 teaspoons to your breakfast cereal or yogurt, and you will not feel hungry for the rest of the day.It has protein than milk or eggs. I contains more Omega 3's than fish. It says it is great for wieght loss, so im gonna try it out. I will keep you posted on my progress. Interesting.

FINALLY, some fresh Sex

I've been watching re-runs of Sex and The City, I have to have seen every single episode, and I still can't get enough of it. If it's on, I'll most likey watch it. So you can imagine my excitement about the movie. This is coming from the girl who still believes she was one of the first to ever get hooked on it.I'm sure it will throw me into a frenzy over all the shoes, dresses, purses, HATS, outfits and of course the LOVE!!! I have pretty much banned myself from shopping. I have decided to get creative with whatever I have in my closet. Seeing all those amazing clothes will throw me into a relapse..I'm sure. So are you gonna hit the crowds at the theatre to see the movie opening weekend? I usually wait it out, but NOT THIS TIME. I would see it on Friday but I have to work, so I made a date with the chikitas on Saturday and we are gonna make a night of it! Fab-You-Lus!

I hate Stains Continued.....

Okay, I told ya'll about my yellow shirt disaster, with the warning that you should NOT use Oxyclean with any clothing that has metal on it. It will cause the metal to react in a way that stains your clothes. Soooo...I bought some Dye and attemped to Dye my top red. What a messy job! It turned out a light red color, maybe tangerine. I don't know if I'm feeling that shade of red. I think I will try and dye it again to see if I can get a deeper shade of red. Anybody out there ever dye anything? Any tips on how to get it as dark as possible? Anyway, I am determined to save this top. It WILL live on to party another night and make my boobs look good doing it! Besides, I don't have any money to buy new clothes when I have to pay for gas.

Coasting into a sunny long weekend

I felt like it was Thursday today. I cannot wait for the weekend and all the warm weather! I plan on enjoying every last second. I am gonna be checkin' out the King of Customs Bike show on saturday afternoon. I love choppers! After that I will prolly find a patio to chill on and drink some Bellinni's! On saturday night I'm going to "Kids In The Hall" at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. Sunday is looking pretty mellow, but I'm thinking of taking a ride up to sunshine for the SLUSH CUP and get in one last shred before the ski season is offcially over. I HATE stains

Ladies, you know how I feel. Your very favorite piece of clothing gets a stain on it. Now if you KNOW what you spilled on it, you can take some action to get rid of the stain. But I found that one of my fav tops has these strange red/pink stains on it and I have no idea where they came from and I cannot get them out. I wanna cry. So the item in question is sitting in a sudsy bath and I am hoping the oxyclean/detergent/shampoo/salt mixture is working the stains out. I've been on the internet and some articles recommend ammonia. Any tips? Anyway, i'll keep you posted on the wardrobe disaster. I hope this story will have a happy ending!

Let it Rain

I know alot of people are not too pleased about the forecast of rain, but remember it's spring! I'm just happy we are not stuck in the frigid grip of winter. Break out the colorful umbrellas and funky rubber boots, rain hats and slickers. Inhale the crisp smell of fresh rain, turn your face to sky and let it fall on your face and invigorate you. Jump in puddle and smile because on the other side of the rain, is bright flowers and green grass, the buds on the tress will open and make way for picnics and BBQ's. Patios with frosty drinks. Gravel free streets to skateboard, rollerblade and bike on. Wide open windows and cool breezes,  long walks on a warm summer evenings and breaking into the neighborhood pool for a late night skinny dip!  Let it rain, for I know after the rain, the sun is sure to shine on summertime! Chad, Fuzzy and Dani Followed me into the bathroom!

So I was at the Whiskey on Friday night hosting the Fresh Vibe Friday, Live to Air. Fuzzy is my partner, he plays the hottest tracks on Friday nights. I took a break from working the microphone to pay a visit to the li'l ladies room. It was soo busy in the bathroom, as soon as I saw a stall open up I ran for it! As I'm getting ready to do my thing, I notice Chad, Fuzzy and Dani inside my stall laughing at me! Yes ladies and gents, they were featured on one of the "newads" that are inside the stalls of the bathroom. I work with these people, way to close for comfort. Needless to say, I was quite unerved..I mean, I know they are not really there, but the whole thing was a total creep out. I had to close my eyes to take a tinkle, and I got outta there ASAP, making a note for the next time NOT to use THAT stall. :) I also made a note of the fact that there is NOWHERE to hide from marketing.

What I can do to become more "Green"

Earth day is behind us, but I'm still going to try to "green" up my life. First I must confess...I am a crappy recycler.I already talked about coming from E-town where they have curbside recycling (I've been spoiled) and now that I think about it....I have no excuse. So I won't make any. I'm off to the store to get three containers to store under the sink for my plastic, glass and paper! As I did last summer I will ride my bike whenever possible. I used to ride my bike to work but going home at midnight started to get a lil sketchy. It just wasn't safe anymore. I have already begun to ban plastic bags from my life. I use re-usable fabric bags whenever I shop. I can't wait to be rid of all the ones  I have accumulated so far! What are you doing to save the planet??

EARTH DAY TOMMORROW (april 22)

It's hard living in a city like this. I grew up in Edmonton and when I was in elementary school the city implimented a curbside recycling program. So when I moved to Calgary, I was surprised that this city didn't have one. City Council debates putting one into action. It's hard to sit by and watch these morons bicker back and forth about such a simple program. So it's up to individuals to recycle, gather up all thier stuff and lug it to the nearest recycle depot. Most drive, wasting energy and spewing more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere all the while. Anyway, I hope you all find a way to talk to your MLA and tell them they should get thier minds and hearts in the RIGHT place and catch up with the rest of the country. Happy Earth Day - MiSS Ange
