This Chicago group of mostly high school students didn't enjoy a lengthy tenure, but made the marvelous wailing ballad "Love Jones" in 1972. It was a gold record and number-three R&B hit, and remains among classic soul one-hit wonders. Their lead singer Darryl Lamont was 12; other members were Ralph Eskridge, Randolph Murph, and Larry Washington. The follow-up, "I Owe You Love," barely made the R&B Top 50, and they were soon only a memory. Both songs were issued on 20th Century Records. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
