I survived the great Toronto blizzard of '08!

I vividly remember watching the news a few years ago when the city of Toronto called in the army after a major blizzard (translation to Albertans: minor snowstorm!)to help keep the peace. We all laughed and mocked the centre of the universe about not being able to deal with a little snow.

Well last week I had to head to Toronto for a conference for all of us radio types across Canada. And when it was announced that a MAJOR BLIZZARD was coming our way, the whole city panicked. Don't leave your home or hotel. don't drive, flights are cancelled, prepare to build an igloo and hunt polar bears. The warnings were everywhere!

Well, I got home safely Saturday night thanks ot my friends at Westjet. (Only an hour and a half delay). And yes..there was lots of snow....but to this Albertan...it would be classified as a minor snowstorm. And that's about it. Do people out east blow everything out of proportion???

Happy Monday!
