March 8th:
 

AUSSIEBUM MAKES UNDERWEAR FROM BANANAS: Australian underwear company, AussieBum, decided to use bananas to make their new eco-friendly underwear line. The men's underwear will incorporate 27 percent banana fiber, 64 percent cotton and 9 percent lycra, said AussieBum's Lloyd Jones. According to Jones, the banana fiber is made from the bark of the banana plant which makes a lightweight and absorbant material. He goes on to say that if you added any more banana fiber, the underwear would be a bit too squishy. (Reuters)


March 5th:
 

CHRISTINA AGUILERA DESIGNS ECO-FRIENDLY CAR: HollyScoop.com reports that Christina Aguilera has teamed with Chrysler to design an eco-friendly vehicle, featuring recycled materials. Aguilera has her own model, dubbed the "Eco Style by Christina Aguilera," which will be auctioned off to raise money for Haiti.



March 4th:
These rain boots are created from recycled plastic bags. They were created in conjunction with the Waste for Life collective based in Buenos Aires.

March 3rd:
The Beetle-Infested Richmond Olympic Oval of the Vancouver Olympics was comprised of one million feet of wood infested by mountain pine beetles. Designers of the Richmond Olympic Oval had found innovative ways to utilize this wood to make an auditorium.

As the Winter Games are over, this beetle-infested wood will make nicely designed chairs. The chairs will allow for two versions with only a minimal increase in manufacturing costs.
