The third installment in the Classics complete chronological recordings of Lightnin' Hopkins presents a series of predominately solo performances recorded in Houston during 1948 and 1949 for the Gold Star record label, a local enterprise owned and operated by one Bill Quinn. Once these sides began to circulate and were reissued on the Modern and Sittin' in With labels, Lightnin' Hopkins began to acquire modest fame from coast to coast as both "T-Model Blues" and "Tim Moore's Farm" sold well enough to make it onto the national charts as "hits."
