Psycho-relics is another compilation with yet more "lost" tracks from idiosyncratic psychedelic renegade Big Boy Pete Miller. Miller's inelegant voice and fanciful instrumentation were a big influence on subsequent D.I.Y. popsters like The Virgineers and The Squires Of The Subterrain. However, Miller's sound was also influenced by blues and '50s music. Miller's lyrics were a cut above others of this ilk, although there was perhaps abuse of such ironic cannabis couplets as "shimmering bubbles lost in the sun, edible colours worn by a nun." These songs were recorded between 1965 and 1969, so a problem arises due to the sometimes jarring contrasts. Read More
