You get two for the price of one with this Solomon Burke combo. These 22 tracks come from some of R&B's best writers: Spooner Oldham & Dan Penn, Bert Berns, Arthur Alexander, Allen Toussaint, Joe Tex, and others. Like Lionel Richie did later, Burke's songs should have crossed over and gained acceptance on country stations and charts. Solomon appeals to both genres, check out Mel Tillis' "Detroit City," The Staples' "It's Been a Change," "Time Is a Thief," Ivory Hunters' "Since I Met You Baby," and John Loudermilk's "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye" -- all prime examples of R&B/country. Read More
