With Aux 88 down to just Tommy "Tom Tom" Hamilton, Xeo-genetic emerged as an even tighter album than previous Aux work. Though many of the trademarks that characterized earlier material -- plenty of spoken interludes, sinister vocoder lines, lock-step drums, and high-profile 303 effects -- are present (and still a bit programmatic), tracks like "Play It Loud," "Electric Light" and "Synthesizers" move the emphasis away from booty-bass and back to self-referential electro topics like the computer age, the man-machine aesthetic and, of course, the future.
