This single was U2's only in support of the band's 1998 Best Of 1980-1990 CD. There were two versions of the Sweetest Thing CD single released, and both had a version called "The Single Mix." "The Sweetest Thing" originally appeared as a B-side to the 1987 Where the Streets Have No Name single. The song was the most popular non-LP track by the band and received much airplay over the years, so U2 re-recorded it for this collection.
