Obviously, there were plenty of artists left uncovered by the first edition in the Trance Europe Express series, and the second volume presents 23 more. A bit more focus on beat-oriented techno and trance -- from the likes of Dave Angel, Secret Knowledge, Speedy J, Hardfloor, Paul Van Dyk -- makes for added variety and leaves plenty of room for (mostly) beatless explorers like The Irresistible Force, Scanner, the Orb side project Ffwd, Pentatonik, Cabaret Voltaire's Richard H. Kirk and the Pete Namlook/Dr. Atmo venture known as Escape. There is a small but noticeable drop in quality from the first, but Trance Atlantic, Vol. 2 is still a memorable two-disc set of early listening-techno. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
