A Steady Date With Tommy Sands omits his most enduring track, "The Worrying Kind," but otherwise presents an adequate glimpse at the music of this teen idol. The recordings range from teen-oriented novelties ("Ring My Phone") to quasi-big band vocal material. One of the best songs on the set, "Blue Ribbon Baby," Sands co-wrote with a young Rod Mckuen. This collection is adequate and affordable for those who are curious about Sands' music, but the omission of "The Worrying Kind" means that Bear Family's expansive single-disc Tommy Sands anthology is still the preferred collection.
