Sleep Tips

(Kid Glue.com)

Sleep is a vital part of everyone's health, no matter your age, but many of us do not get the recommended amount.  Lack of sleep can effect mood, immune function, productivity, and attentiveness.  Experts recommend:

  • Adults receive 7-9 hours per night

  • Toddlers receive 12-14 hours per night

  • School aged children receive 10-12 hours per night

  • Teens receive 8.5-9.5 hours per night

Experts also say that equally important as the number of hours of sleep is sticking to a sleep schedule, or routine, to ensure that the quality of sleep is as restful as possible.  Inevitably, springing an hour ahead will throw a wrench in your family's sleep routine.

March 12/10-Daylight Savings Time is back this weekend!

Stayawake For Daylight Savings Time
Here are some tips for not losing sleep over daylight-saving time.

When the time change occurs, set your new bedtime and awakening time to correspond to the new time and try to strictly follow the new bedtime and awakening time. If you typically have difficulty adjusting to the daylight savings time, try gradually moving your bedtime later by fifteen minutes in advance of the time change.

Bright light in the morning can help your body adjust to the new awakening time. Going outside or staying in an area that receives a lot of sunlight for 30 minutes within 5 minutes of awakening will enable you to receive the necessary bright light. If you typically awaken before dawn, obtaining a UV-filtered light box is an acceptable substitute for sunlight.

March 11/10-High chairs for your pets?!?

High-end retailer Hammacher Schlemmer is touting its new Pet High Chair that allows your small dog or cat to sit with you at the dinner table. Selling for $49.95, the high chair that holds pets up to 10 pounds clips on to tables and has a steel tubing frame and a nylon fabric pouch for your pet to sit in, allowing Fido or Fluffy to eat at the table. Hammacher Schlemmer General Manager Fred Berns said, "The Pet High Chair is ideal for people who truly consider their pet to be part of the family."

Would you buy one of these?! Let me know. dani@vibe985.com

March 10/10-RIP COREY HAIM

Very sad news today that 38 year old actor Corey Haim passed away due to an accidental overdose. I remember as a kid having a HUGE crush on him. (Watch the movie License to Drive). Super sad news. Corey was originally from Toronto before he moved to LA.
RIP Corey

March 3/10-Lovely Lashes

Today I am heading back to the fantastic Inglewood Beauty Bar to get my first 'fill' on my eyelash extensions. It has been over 4 weeks since I have had the lashes done, and they still look great! If you have a big event coming up like a wedding or maybe your just lacking in the eyelash department like myself, I would totally recommend checking them out.

Last time I got the lashes I went au natural...I am thinking of adding a little excitement to the lashes. Hot pink? Diamonds? They do it all!!

Check out Inglewood Beauty bar here.

March 2/10-More recalls this time for GM!!

Another recall...maybe we should go back to the days of horse and buggys?!

GM is recalling 1.3 compact cars in the US, Canada and Mexico. Think your ride might be on the list? Here you go:

-2005-2010---Chevrolet Cobalts
-2007-2010---Pontiac G5s
-2005-2006---Pontiac Pursuits (Sold in Canada)
-2005-2006---Pontiac G4s (Sold in Mexico)

GM says the cars are safe to drive but they just may be harder to steer.

March 1/10-WAY TO GO CANADA!!

After 17 intense days of competition in Vancouver at the 2010 Olympics it is all over. I am very sad about it...I was ADDICTED to watching our athletes perform. Yesterday, when they were doing the Olympic recap of all the medal winners...I cried. Teared up a bit just because I was so proud of them.

What better way to end off the games than with the HUGE win last night against the United States in OT. Way to go boys!!! I think the games in Van were amazing and that our athletes represented our country with pride.
